2022 QUT Clayton Adam Florence Wilson Award for Biomechanics and Spine Research
The Clayton Adam Florence Wilson Award is available to promote spine research at QUT and honors our former Research Director, Professor Clayton Adam, for his outstanding contribution to scientific innovation in spine research.
Clayton joined QUT in 1999 and has dedicated his career to assisting children with spinal disorders and improving treatment outcomes for spinal surgery patients.
He assembled a dedicated team of researchers, scientists, engineers, surgeons, and industry partners to conduct cutting-edge research aimed at reducing risks and improving patient outcomes from spinal surgery.
Clayton’s leadership of the research program resulted in the Florence Wilson Bequest, a substantial bequest from a donor moved by his work. Clayton was diagnosed with a terminal illness in 2015, but he continued his active research until early 2018.
Unfortunately, his health battle ended in March 2018, but his dedication to biomechanics and spinal research will be remembered and admired for a long time.
